DENVER — Colorado coach Mike MacIntyre will join college coaches from around the state May 11 at Sports Authority Field for the 11th annual Colorado Coaches for Charity event.
Also appearing will be Mike Bobo (Colorado State), Troy Calhoun (Air Force), Earnest Collins, Jr. (Northern Colorado) and John Wristen (CSU-Pueblo).
Each coach helps raise money for his respective charity as well a raise money to assist in sponsoring opportunities for single-parent children to attend Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) summer camps.
Also at the event, each coach honors his annual recipient of the Jerry D. McMorris Community MVP Award, named for the late former owner of the Colorado Rockies. MacIntyre’s honoree this year is longtime CU supporter and Colorado businessman Brad Calkins.
The event is sponsored annually by the Fisher DeBerry Foundation, led by former Air Force coach and Hall of Famer Fisher DeBerry. The foundation supports children of single-parent families.
"This is a fun and meaningful night for us every year," said Fisher DeBerry. "The state of Colorado is blessed to have wonderful football coaches with big hearts. These coaches don’t just spend time on the football field or watching game film; they truly care about using their platform to give back to their respective communities."
Proceeds raised from the event are split between the coaches’ charities. MacIntyre has once again chosen the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation (FOJ) as his beneficiary. FOJ pairs up children and their families battling pediatric brain tumors with college sports teams.
Tables and individual tickets are still available. For information, visit www.ColoradoCoachesforCharity.com, or contact Fisher DeBerry Foundation representative Burt Trembly at (702) 622-2275 or email@example.com.
